Bible Notes Online - Psalms 43 - ESV
Commentary

This psalm continues the previous psalm. Originally, the two may have been one psalm.

v1: The problem of an ungodly enemy, being in the majority and the ascendancy.

v2: The psalmist had no hope except God.

v3: He will send His light and His truth, guiding us into His presence, the place "where You dwell", the place of peace and joy. He draws us to Himself. The original meaning was to do with the worshippers travelling to Jerusalem, as in Ps 42.4.

v4: The psalmist's desire remained, that he might worship God. As in Ps 57.8, he looks for his instrument, to bring praise to God.

v5: The closing prayer of hope, as in Ps 42.5, 11.
