Bible Notes Online - Psalms 28 - ESV
Commentary

A prayer in affliction.

v1-2: Prayer reflects our dependence upon God, 'if God be silent, then I am dead.' The psalmist expresses a fear of losing God's smile, Ps 27.9; 51.11. His prayer is a cry for mercy, a call for help, indicating effort.

v3: Those who practice deceit; we are not to be like them; God will not treat us like them, Ps 26.9-10.

v4: Prayer for God's righteousness and judgment to be demonstrated.

v5: The unbeliever rejects God, and his life is one of ungodly actions; ultimately he will be judged by God.

v6-7: Our God answers prayer; here is our confidence; notice the response in joyful song.

v8-9: God's blessing upon His people, as well as upon individuals.
