Bible Notes Online - Ezekiel 6 - ESV
Commentary

v1-3: Sin was thorough and widespread; as if the mountains and hills were corrupted; Lev 18.25,27.

v4-7: Idolatry and idolaters judged; idolatry proved to be ineffective against the power of God.  False and empty religion – utterly impotent.

Ezekiel continues his refrain, "and you will know that I am the Lord," from 5.13, and which continues through several chapters. The burden is that the Lord is made known through judgments upon His people.

v8-10: We see something of God's purpose and heart. First, He leaves survivors who will remember His in the future. Second, He says, "I have been grieved" (or crushed, or broken); such is the Lord's compassion and concern for His people.

Either we know God in blessing, of we know Him in judgment.

v11-14: God's wrath spent on His people. There is plague and sword and famine. Their bodies will lie around their altars.
