Bible Notes Online - Ezekiel 31 - ESV
Commentary

v1-9: The greatness of Egypt, exceeding all others, pictured by a great and fruitful tree. Compare 28.12-13. Its exaltation was the work of God Himself.

v10-14: Pride and wickedness became Egypt's downfall, see 28.17. Nebuchadnezzar, the ruler of the nations, the most ruthless of nations, was the instrument of Egypt's defeat. Never again would Egypt be exalted, pictured by the tress of v14.

v15-18: The warning to other nations; they will shake with fear. Gentile nations would learn that God is the Lord. We cannot doubt that the Lord of all the earth of truly God of the nations.
