Bible Notes Online - Ezekiel 25 - ESV
Commentary

As Ezekiel addresses each nation, he makes reference to their attacks on Israel, and the judgment which they suffer as a result; Ammon (v3-4), Moab (v8-9), Edom (v13-14), Philistia (v16-17). In each case also, the judgment falls as a testimony to God; "you will know that I am the Lord." These nations were Judah’s near neighbours, in fact all visible from Jerusalem on a clear day!

v1-7: Ammon rejoiced with malice at Israel's suffering. As a result the people of the east would attack, and destroy the nation.

v8-11: Moab and its ally, Seir, treated Judah as any other nation, when God had made His people distinct. They would be destroyed along with Ammon. This happened shortly afterwards.

v12-14: Edom was guilty of taking revenge on Judah. The judgment upon Edom would come later, during the time of the Maccebees. The judgment was thorough, from Teman to Dedan (equivalent to ‘from Dan to Beersheba,’ ie: from north to south).

v15-17: The Philistines acted with malice and vengeance against Judah. There was the ancient hostility, which had continued particularly through the times of the kings of Judah. Indeed, even today, there remains hostility between Palestine (Philistia) and Israel.
