Bible Notes Online - 2-Chronicles 3 - ESV
Commentary

v1: The temple was built on Mount Moriah, a place of significant history. Here Abraham had gone to offer Isaac (Gen 22.2). Here David had offered a sacrifice at Araunah's threshing floor (1 Chr 21).

v2-3: Solomon laid the foundation of the temple, 90 x 30 feet.

v4-7: The temple was decorated with gold, reflecting God's glory. Parvaim was evidently a source of gold, possibly to the east of Israel.

v8: Even in the Most Holy Place, there were 20 tons of gold.

v9-13: There were gold nails; and gold cherubim overlooking the ark.

v14: As in the tabernacle, the curtain was made of blue and purple and crimson, and fine linen thread. Thus, the imagery, so strong in the tabernacle, is carried into the temple.

v15-17: At the front of the temple were two pillars, Boaz and Jakin.
