Bible Notes Online - Job 10 - ESV
Commentary

v1-7: Job wrestles with his circumstances, seeking to know the mind of God. His request is, 'Show me why.' We know that certain things are kept secret by God; our response is faith, to accept all things as being from Him, and trusting Him to work them out.

v8-12: Job acknowledges that God has made and preserved him. Life itself is God's gift. People do not like such desires; there is a general ignorance and despising of spiritual things; men think that a Biblical answer has no value.

v13-17: God's ways are secret; Job is conscious that he is not perfect before God, yet "you know that I am not guilty", and God has brought great suffering into his life.

v18-22: Back to chapter 3, "Why did I not die at birth?" (3.11) Job prefers the rest of death.
