Bible Notes Online - Exodus 37 - ESV
Commentary

v1-9: The ark was made (25.10-22).

v5: See also v14, 27; 38.7. Certain items were made to be carried, the ark, the table, the altar, and the bronze altar; this was a lesson, and brought a promise, that the desert was not to be their home, they were just to travel through it. In the same way, the world is not our home, for we are strangers and pilgrims here.

This chapter brings together items made of gold, the ark, the table, the lampstand the altar if incense, pointing us to the glory and perfection of Christ.

v10-16: The table of Shewbread was made, as described in 25.25-30.

v17-24: The lampstand (25.31-39) was made of a single piece of gold, weighing one talent (v24), which was 3000 shekels, 75lbs, 34.2kg.

v25-28: The altar of incense (30.1-10) was made, very small in comparison to the altar of burnt offering. This was only used one day a year, on the Day of Atonement for sacrifice, and used each day to burn incense (30.7-8).

v29: The holy anointing oil and incense were also made, 30.22-38.
