Bible Notes Online - Judges 15 - ESV
Commentary

v1-3: Samson had clearly misunderstood what had happened, thinking that the woman was still available for him to marry. The fact that she had been given to another gave him a reason to attack the Philistines again.

v4-5:  What would be impossible for most men, to catch 300 foxes, Samson was readily able to do. Doubtless the foxes would be terrified, and would run wild through the fields

v6-8: Samson's actions even caused dissension amongst the Philistines, as they killed the woman and her father.

v9-13: The Philistines, who ruled over regions of Judah, came in force to fetch Samson back. The people of Judah were fearful of the Philistines; and seemed unwilling to escape their dominion. They preferred to submit to them than to declare allegiance with the one who could deliver them, even delivering Samson to them.

v14-15: Samson, having been bound by new ropes, was taken to the Philistines. Samson was not a preacher or a prophet, but God had raised him up to bring deliverance from the Philistines.

v16-17:   Samson’s prophecy, still in poetic form, as in 14.14, 18. The place of his victory became the place of answered prayer

v18-20: Samson prayed to God (as in 16.28); he is not renown as a man of prayer and devotion, but he was still God's choice for the time. Samson prayed in times of trouble; we should pray at all times.

For 20 years he judged that part of Israel, and lessened the influence of the Philistines; he multiplied their dead (16.24).
