Bible Notes Online - Revelation 10 - ESV
Commentary

v1-4: A pause between the sixth and seventh trumpets. The mighty angel standing astride land and sea. His voice is like thunders (as in Dan 10.6). There come the seven thunders, but their message is sealed. God, in His wisdom, keeps certain things from us, see Deut 29.29. But much is revealed, so that we have no excuse for any lack of obedience.

v5-7: The angel goes on to announce the seventh and final trumpet, the third and final "woe" as the purposes of God are brought to conclusion. The announcement is that the kingdom of God is proclaimed (11.15). This has long been proclaimed to "His servants the prophets," and declared amongst the people. The apparent delay in its fulfilment is opportunity for many to repent (2 Pet 3.9).

v8-11: John is involved in God's revelation about what is to come; he is not an uninterested bystander. He has a message for "many peoples, nations, languages and kings." The initial sweetness of the message was soon replaced by bitterness (contrast Ezek 3.1-3). John had hard things to say to a rebellious and unrepentant people. Yet for those who respond with faith, there is comfort.
