Malawi
is located in south-eastern Africa. Lake Malawi, over 500 miles in length,
accounts for almost 20 percent of the
available land area. The capital
city is Lilongwe, the currency is the Malawian Kwacha
and the official languages are Chewa
and English. The southern part of the
country is tropical, while the highlands and mountains of the west are
mild and cool. This landlocked nation has stable tobacco, tea, coffee and
cotton exports, and all contribute to its growing economic strength.
